E-Letter from Gila (Dorostkar) Millar in June
Sent: June 22, 2023 via email
Dear Class of 1988 Classmates,
Our Kalamazoo College 35th reunion is October 6-8, 2023 and a celebratory weekend is being planned reconnecting with each other and our K community.
I have volunteered again to help with planning what I hope will be a fabulous weekend for our class. Please consider coming! We had a great turnout for our 25th and a pretty good one for our 30th. Let’s make this 35th the BEST yet. It’s time to seize the moment and not miss the opportunity to reconnect with friends and classmates. As a friend jokingly said recently, we’re on the back nine, people!
Below are six things you can do right now to connect with our class and the College before our reunion.
- Complete my Class of ’88 survey to gauge interest in activities throughout the weekend. Please fill out by June 30th.
- Plan to attend October 6-8, 2023. Make your travel arrangements and book your hotel room now. You can find a list of hotels at homecoming.kzoo.edu. FYI—the Radisson downtown is already sold out. I would suggest reserving your rooms at other hotels nearby asap.
Friday, October 6 from 5-6:30 p.m. – Alumni and Current Student Connection Reception in the Hicks Center
Friday, October 6 from 7 p.m.-12 a.m.: All Hornet Gathering at Bell’s, 355 East Kalamazoo Ave.
Saturday, October 7 in the morning: Reunion Photo at Stetson Chapel
Saturday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m.: Reunion Gathering in the Olmsted Room
- Update your contact information at kzoo.edu/contactupdate.
- Share an update with the College. Submit a class note to be published in LuxEsto to celebrate our reunion at kzoo.edu/classnote.
- Join the Class of 1988 Facebook group. Go to facebook.com/groups/KClassof1988. Our class Facebook group is a great way to connect with each other by sharing a reunion update, posting photos of our time at K and discussing our reunion plans.
- Help ensure each of our classmates gets personally invited. In addition to coming back yourself, please consider asking your friends to do the same. Personal outreach is the most effective way to ensure we get the Class of 1988 back on campus. If you are interested in reaching out to our classmates, please let the College know.
Please check your email and the homecoming website for reunion updates in the months to come. Online registration opens at the beginning of September and you will receive an email and postcard in the mail when registration is open.
We hope you will join us for what promises to be a fun and exciting weekend for our class!
All the best,
Gila (Dorostkar) Millar, Class of ’88

Dear ’88 Classmates,
Please join our class for an informal gathering at Shakespeare’s Pub to kick-off our reunion weekend! I have reserved space for us from 7pm and on. We’ll have some appetizers out for everyone and there is also a dinner menu available. Shakespeare’s has a full bar with a focus on craft beers. All drinks are available for purchase. I’ll most likely request a $10-15 donation to help with the cost of appetizers…. details to follow.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
Gila (Dorostkar) Millar, Class of ’88

Hi Classmates,
We are just weeks away from our Reunion Homecoming Weekend and I am writing to encourage you to register: Homecoming Registration
We have a great group of classmates already signed up but we would love to have MANY more to make the weekend extra fun. And where are all the men? Come on guys (who are not married to classmates), please sign up!
Our fellow classmate, Harold Phillips, will be speaking at 4pm on Friday—“K to the White House”—so let’s come out in support and hear all about Harold’s experiences.
Meet us at Shakespeare’s Pub from 7pm and on Friday night for our own Class of ’88 Social. Remember our night back in 2018?
The tailgate party planned before the football game on Saturday is not listed on the formal registration. This is an informal event that I am organizing for our class. Remember back in 2013 it poured rain but we all still had a blast?
Our Reunion Dinner will be held right on campus on Saturday evening in the Olmsted Room in Mandelle. I don’t remember that room, do you? Looks like the perfect venue for a nice fall night.
All in all, a wonderful weekend is planned and these are only a few of the highlights that our school has arranged. Let’s build some registration momentum and come ready to party and connect.

September 2023
Hi Everyone,
Our Homecoming Weekend is just days away now and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all. Keeping fingers crossed on the weather!
I’ll have a tent set up next to the football field one hour (1 pm) before the game on Saturday. Game starts at 2 pm.
I’ll order a couple of food platters and have some snacks to munch on. If you’d like to contribute, thanks and something like a $10 donation would be great.
If anyone can bring a table to the tailgate, can you please let me know?
Please bring your own drinks. I’ll have a few available but probably best to bring along some, too.
Another shot from our Reunion in 2018!
Cheers,
Gila (Dorostkar) Millar
