Dear Class of 1977 Classmates,
Our Kalamazoo College 45th reunion is October 21-23, 2022, and in mid September you will be getting the detailed registration information from the college. We’ve planned a few more ways to expand the celebratory weekend’s opportunities to reconnect and “hang out” with each other and our K community, since there always seems so much to talk about.
When you make your travel arrangements, please be aware of the following plans we’ve made just for the Class of ’77. These are in addition to the things you will see in the information K will be sending out and posting on the homecoming website in conjunction with the beginning of registration in early September:
Friday, October 21, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. the planning committee will be hosting our Class of ’77 Drop In/Meet Up Connection Place at 304 Monroe Street, adjacent to the campus. Thanks to the generosity of Anthropology Professor Emeritus Marigene Arnold, we will be using her home, which was the former Stryker Center that was moved off site. Isn’t that cool? It will again be a casual BYOB type event in which we ask everyone to bring something to share and to drink (not exclusively alcoholic!).
Sunday morning, October 23, from 9:15-11:00 a.m., everyone is welcome to come to the Radisson downtown for their breakfast buffet. We’ll be in their private dining room so our group can chat and mingle more. We’ll need your RSVP, but you will be expected to pay your own bill that day, which is around $18-$20 including tax and gratuity.
- Make your travel arrangements and book your hotel room now. You can find a list of hotels offering special prices for K alumni on the Lodging page of the Homecoming and Reunion website
- Help ensure each of our classmates gets personally invited. In addition to coming back yourself, please consider asking your K friends to do the same. Personal outreach is the most effective way to ensure we get the Class of 1977 back on campus. If you are interested in reaching out to our classmates, please let one of us know.
- Join the Class of 1977 Facebook group. More than 70 of us already have! Go to facebook.com/groups/KClassof1977. Our class Facebook group is a great way to keep up with the plans and updates for the weekend as they unfold and connect with each other. As plans develop we will also post information our own Class of 77 page of K’s reunion website.
- Remember the slideshow Darrell Rogers produced from the photos we sent it at the last reunion in 2017? We’d love you to again provide him with photos of your time at K, of your mini-reunions since then with friends. And if you can’t come we invite you to send in a one minute iPhone (or apple format) video clip so we can get a mini-update. Deadline for that is September 15. The best method is to put photos and video into Google Drive (everyone who has a Gmail address also has a Google Drive) and then share them with him at his email which is tcwheels13@gmail.com.
We hope you will join us for what promises to be another fun, and exciting weekend for our class!
All the best,

P.S. It’s affirming to share time with people you spent time with during our formative K College years. All you need to do to make this a great reunion is to reach out to at least one person you would enjoy reconnecting with and mutually decide to come. It’s amazing to hear what diverse paths we took and what interesting things we are doing at this stage of our lives. Thanks to the K Plan, we guarantee you’ll enjoy hanging out with people you’ll remember from your dorm, foreign study, classes, parties, Schwartz’s Chalet(!!!) …..
